Instagram QR code
Make an Instagram QR code
A scan opens your profile, or any post or reel, in the Instagram app.
A username opens your profile. Paste a post or reel link to open that instead.
Make it yours
Your code appears here as you type.
An Instagram QR code turns a printed surface into a follow. Someone points their camera at it, the Instagram app opens on your profile, and the follow button is right there. It does the job a handle printed in small type is supposed to do, without asking anyone to remember the spelling, find the search tab or pick you out from the accounts with nearly the same name.
How to use it
- Type your username, with or without the @. The code opens your profile.
- To send people to one post or reel instead, open it in Instagram, tap Share, copy the link and paste it here.
- The share-tracking code Instagram adds to copied links is removed, which keeps the pattern smaller and easier to scan.
- Choose colours that match your brand, but keep the code darker than its background so every phone can read it.
- Download an SVG for print, since it stays sharp at any size, and test the printed result with a phone.
Why not use the one inside Instagram?
The app can show a QR code for your profile, and for a quick scan between two phones it is fine. For print it is less useful. It saves as a styled image rather than a clean vector file, and the design is Instagram's rather than yours. A code made here is a plain, sharp image at any size, can point at a profile, post or reel, and takes your colours.
Where people put them
Shop windows and counters, product packaging and swing tags, flyers and posters, restaurant menus, event lanyards, business cards and the last slide of a talk. Anywhere a customer might think about following you later and forget, a code lets them do it now.
You never log in to Instagram here, and nothing you type is sent anywhere, because the code is drawn in your browser. Any QR is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta.
Frequently asked questions
No. The code only holds the public address of your profile or post, so no login, password or permission is involved.
No. A profile code holds the address that includes your username, so a new username needs a new code. Post and reel links keep working, since they do not include the username.
The link opens in their browser instead, where they can see a public profile or post, and Instagram will offer to open or install the app.
Yes, it opens the profile, and the person can send a follow request from there. They will not see your posts until you accept.
