These are the questions that apply to the whole site. Questions about one kind of code, such as which WiFi security type to pick, are answered on that generator's own page.

Are the codes really free?

Yes, and there is no version that is not. No watermark, no daily cap, no upgrade prompt. The site is funded by advertising rather than by charging for the codes.

Do the codes expire?

No. A code made here holds your data directly, so it keeps working whether or not this site is still online. Nothing we do later can switch one off. Codes that expire are redirect codes owned by a provider, which is a different product, described on the about page.

Is there a scan limit?

No. Scanning does not contact this site at all. A phone reads the pattern and acts on what it finds, so there is nothing to meter, and no way for us to count scans even if we wanted to.

Can I use them commercially?

Yes. Put them on packaging, menus, posters, business cards or products, and sell those things. You do not owe us a fee or an attribution. The QR format itself is an open standard that its owner has committed not to charge for.

Why is there no sign-up?

Because there is nothing an account would be for. Your codes are built on your own machine and your history is kept by your own browser, so there is no server-side data that an account would give you access to. Adding one would only mean collecting identities we have no use for.

Can I edit a code after printing it?

No, and neither can anyone else, which is the point. Changing where a printed code leads requires a redirect service that owns the link, and that service can also take it away. If you need editable destinations, choose a dynamic provider deliberately, knowing the code stops working when the subscription does.

Why does the code look different each time?

Different input needs a different amount of space, so the pattern changes size and shape. A longer link produces a denser grid. If a code is hard to scan, shortening the text it holds usually helps more than printing it larger.

What happens if I lose my history?

It is gone, and we cannot restore it, because we never had a copy. Download the images you care about when you make them. The privacy policy explains where that history is kept and what removes it.
